Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Buttercup yellow flowers the size of a silver dollar, with a wild and wavy feel . . . Sylvestris adds a welcome sense of movement to the garden. The blooms are held aloft on slender black stems that help the flowers, often 3 to 7 per stem, follow the sun.

Violet-scented and informal, this charming wildflower has small, yellow, almond-shaped flowers that nod in bud and then open wide in the sun. Gerard pictured it in his great Herbalof 1597, Jefferson grew it at Monticello, and you'll find it naturalized today throughout Pennsylvania Dutch country and our garden. Aka T. florentina, 8-14", zones 5a-8a(8bWC)
Blooms: spring, clear yellow, exterior tinged green-red, strong growing perennial Zone 3-9. 10"-18", Europe, part shade-sun, moist, well drained
Here is great news for those in warm climates: You can grow tulips! T. Sylvestris is native to southern Europe. They don't require much winter chill to thrive. AMONG THE BEST TULIPS FOR THE SOUTH. Here in zone 8, Arizona they come up in January and bloom in March. In hot and humid areas be sure they have good drainage to survive summer dormancy. Hardy in zones 6-9 (maybe colder, but I can't be certain) Flowering period: early Plant height: 8-10 inches
