Veronicastrum 'Apollo' is a lovely, tall, back of the border, late-flowering clumper that loves moist feet and good sun. The flowers look like lavender-purple candelabras in the garden. Plants bulk up with time offering large clumps of lavender spires and attractive foliage whorled at regular intervals along the stems. A native from Manitoba east and south to Florida.
It's amazing what plant breeders (and selection) have done to spice up a somewhat plain-Jane plant! They've added brighter color, making this a beautiful vertical accent for perennial or shrub borders, native plant and rain gardens. Flower spikes can reach up to 40".

Apollo's leafy stems taper delicately into foot-long lilac racemes tipped with vivid green buds, which bend and curve, adding a playful air to its imposing carriage. Display this graceful Veronicastrum with Angelica archangelica's rounded umbels, and the rosy plumes of Miscanthus 'Nippon'.
An American native, this form of Culver's Root resemble a tall elegant Veronica, with leafy 3-4' stems tapering into long lilac-blue racemes tipped with vivid green buds, which bend and curve. It blooms in mid-late summer, and attracts beneficial insects and butterflies by the gazilllions!
