What this plant lacks in hardiness it makes up for in seasonal presence! 5′ stems emerge from clumps of sticky, huge leaves (to 3′) topped with multitudes of very slender white trumpets with a magical evening fragrance. A little deadheading will keep the flowers coming all summer and fall till hard frost. Morning sun is ideal…light shade will do; most soil, fertile, moderate water. Gaze upon these hypnotic, exotic flowers under the light of a full moon!
Annual fragrant white flowers; often reseeds
A large self seeding annual or short lived perennial. Huge (60cm) bright green leaves are produced in a rosette from the centre of which a tall leafy stem topped with bunches of long tubular white flowers. The entire plant is covered in small sticky hairs which trap insects. A bold and spectacular plant for a lightly shade position.

Star Flower, they called it, for its cluster of tubular blooms are like a shower of brilliant white stars. The front page feature of Park Seed's 1904 Floral Guide, it still steals the scene today with its broad, light green leaves and fragrant flowers that stay open all day. Shelter from strong winds. Self sows.
Woodland Flowering Tobacco is a essential self-sowing anual for partially shaded gardens. It reaches 4-6' with candelabras of dangling tubular white blossoms that emit a soft fragrance.
Fabulously fragrant, Roy Orbison approved ‘Only the Lonely’ grows to a monumental 4-6’ tall & up to 2’ wide! It’s the biggest Nicotiana you can grow! Ginormous, 5-6” long candelabra-like sprays of sweetly scented tubular white flowers explode in to bloom Summer through early Fall. Native to South America, they begin radiating their yummy scent at dusk & continue the through the night to attract moth pollinators. Easy cottagey focal point. Self-sows!
