This cultivar was selected at the Morton Arboretum for its beauty from seed acquired from the parent tree in Gansu Province, China. S/M
Striking hardy ornamental small tree with amber-colored exfoliating bark and deep green, semi-glossy foliage. Large, creamy-white early summer blooms are fragrant. Drought resistant, this plant seems as tough as a bucket of rocks if you don't plant it in wet ground.
Selected from the collections of the Morton Arboretum, Lisle, Illinois, for its graceful, upright-rounded habit; fragrant white flowers in mid- to late June; ornamental, cinnamon-colored exfoliating bark; and clean foliage through the growing season. The parent tree, measuring 40' in height with a 35' spread, originated from seed collected in Gansu Province, People's Republic of China, by Joseph Rock during the 1920s.
A multi seasoned small tree (to 25') with clusters of fragrant white lilac blossoms in June, an attractive upright shape and distinctive exfoliating bark, quite similar to Acer griseum. 4-5' plants for spring shipping.
