Depending on when this rhododendron was observed during the blooming season I could have also put "yellow" as the primary color! Large buds initially open pink with a crimson blotch and then turn yellow with the same colored blotch. Dark, glossy leaves are densely packed on this "two for one" treat.
A good healthy grower with flowers that open pink, turning to yellow with a crimson blotch. Plant has a compact habit with dark, glossy leaves. 'Virginia Richards' is a good looking plant with large flower buds. A must have plant. ([wardii x 'F.C. Puddle'] x 'Mrs. Betty Robertson')
