Rose-pink trusses combined with copper-colored new growth fading to hues of green make this a very desirable plant. The Rhododendron Society thought so too as it received both an Award of Merit and a Gold Medal.

This prize winning hybrid originated in Holland. 'April Glow' forms an evenly shaped mound reaching 4' to 5' in time. Fairly early in the spring it covers itself with beautiful rosy pink trusses containing 7 to 10 blossoms. Then as a bonus, copper red new growth appears which gradually melts into shades of luscious green. You can tell why it received both an Award of Merit and a Gold Medal. Also sold as 'April Showers', but there is an azalea registered by that name, so the name was changed to 'April Glow'. (williamsianum x 'Wilgens Ruby')
