Pleioblastus pygmaeus is an evergreen or semi-evergreen groundcover bamboo with green foliage. Features grassy texture. Grows well with sun - mostly shade and regular water. Does well in average and well-drained soil. A good option if you're seeking something verticillium wilt resistant.
A very small dwarf species, only a foot or so fall, forming a dense mat of fine textured green leaves. Evergreen in mild winters, gets a bit tattered and can die back to the ground in hard ones. An extremely aggressive spreader that will eat weaker plants alive. Extremely tolerant of drought, shade, and just about everything else. A perfect plant for difficult spots in the garden where little else will grow, but don't let it loose in your perennial border. Zone 5
This upright growing, very dwarf bamboo will only reach 1' tall. Blue-green leaves change to pale green in the fall. Spreads quickly and would be suitable for use as a groundcover.
