    The true 'Golden Bamboo' unlike the regular species Phyllostachys aurea, which actually has green colored canes but is marketed under the name 'Golden Bamboo.' New shoots are golden yellow and take on slight red or orange hues when exposed to sunlight for their first year or so. Like most other varieties of Phyllostachys aurea, 'Holochrysa' is slower spreading and shorter in stature than the species, and also has the congested internodes on the lower portion of many canes.

    This is like the species, but it is truly the golden bamboo. The new culms are light green and as they age they turn golden yellow and they yellow orange.
