Lavandula angustifolia 'Munstead' is a broadleaf evergreen perennial herb or shrub with blue and green foliage. In summer purple flowers emerge. Attracts bees and butterflies making it an excellent addition to pollinator gardens. Grows well with sun and occasional - low water. Drought tolerant once established. Prefers to be dry in summer. Does well in alkaline, average, gritty, lean, rocky and well-drained soil. A good option if you're seeking something heat tolerant.

A compact lavender slowly grows to 18” tall expanding to 30” wide, silvery foliage topped with fragrant spikes of purple late summer into fall. Full sun, well drained soil (even sand), little to no water, deer & rabbit resistant, drought tolerant.
Zn 6. Purple flowers. Gray-green foilage.
For places where a three foot tall lavender plant is just too much, consider dwarf Munstead. This lavender is well suited to containers, pocket gardens, walkway edgings, rock gardens and similar sites.

A semi-prostrate dwarf form to 18" tall with small gray-green leaves and large, deep violet-blue flowers in loose spikes. Splendid for edging pathways, it is equally suitable for use as a low hedge. Earlier blooming than many lavenders, 'Munstead' shows color beginning in June or July. Raised at Munstead Wood in Surrey, by Miss Gertrude Jekyll and introduced in 1916. Hardy to 0F.
Robust yet remaining in compact 18" mounds perfect for hedging. Fragrant, tightly held blooms. As with all lavenders provide free draining soils.
A larger leaved variety with blue-lilac spikes appearing in June and July. This plant will achieve a height of 16-18".
