Nursery contributed plant descriptions

This species of Dicentra is more suited to the sunnier areas of the garden. I grow it in full sun and also in a part sun bed. It seems to flower at varying intervals throughout the Summer. Plants grow to about 12-18" and have very interesting pendulous flowers in varying shades of pink and red. Their shiny black seeds are easy to germinate and before you know it you will have an impressive stand.
A popular shade garden favorite Wild Bleeding Heart sports delicate heart shaped flowers atop lacy blue-green foliage. Blooming from mid-summer into fall, it fills a mid-season color gap in the woodland. Native to the Appalachian Mountains, Dicentra eximia thrives in rich, well-drained soil in full to part shady locations. Great naturalizer in shady rock gardens. Easily self sows where happy.Hardy to Zones 3 - 7.
Rosy purple bleeding hearts dangle from graceful drooping stems through the spring and summer. The flaring tips of the outer petals are unusually long on these flowers. The foliage is deeply incised, gray-green, and glaucous.
