Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Enchanting, frilly flowers cover the foliage in spring. Nice pastel color.
2-1/2" ruffled lavender pink double blossoms cover this semi-dwarf azalea in mid to late spring. An extremely cold hardy semi-evergreen azalea hybrid with a dense mounding habit. Reported to withstand winters as far north as zone 5. Azaleas need a humus rich, acid soil and adequate moisture during establishment as well a good organic mulch. The mulch will keep the root zone cooler and at a more stable temperature, helps to conserve moisture, controls competition from weeds, and as it breaks down it's nutrients are slowly release back into the soil feeding your plants. Properly mulched Azaleas often need little additional nutrients once they are well established. Never use lime around Azaleas and realize that many of your 'garden' fertilizers like 8-8-8 and 13-13-13 contain lime as a filler so this could be toxic to them. Use a slow release, non-burning acidifying fertilize instead.
A hybrid of 'Desiree' x 'Rosebud', 'Elsie Lee' displays light bluish-lavender flowers that are frilly, semi-double and 2-3" across. Part of its show includes pale yellow centers flecked with dark red purple. Semi-dwarf, it reaches about 3'x3' in 15 years. Very hardy and showy!
