Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Just about everyone at our June 2011 open house wanted one of these RHS award winning plants. Unfortunately, we had only a few stock plants. Finally we have a few to share, after 5 years since we brought it back from Switzerland. Roundish, lavender flowers, strongly veined purple with a purple throat and green eyes, appear out of a tufts of blue-gray, dissected, umbrella-like leaves. Needs a well drained soil.
A plant this diminutive just can't be this sassy but what a show! Finely cut green leaves in a dense mound and showy flowers of vivid blue merging with striations into the purple center. A class act on trough or rock garden. Good drainage and a gritty soil.
