Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Jade Dragon' is an excellent hybrid spurge of E. amygdaloides 'Rubra' and E. characias ssp. wulfenii. Think of it as a 3 foot tall wulfenii with lush blue-green, evergreen foliage, deep red new growth, and bright chartreuse flower heads in the summer instead of early spring. There's nothing else quite like it in the spurges.
Evoking images of viridescent dragon scales, the pointed, blue-green leaves create a compact, deer proof assemblage that's infused with reddish purple tinges. This robust, tidy-looking Milkwort shoulders summer blooming chartreuse flower heads nearly one foot across. Consorts such as Panicum 'Heavy Metal' and Eupatorium 'Gateway' enhance its colorful hues.
A handsome newer selection with pale blue-green foliage that blushes a rosy-pink at the tips. Plants have a compact, rounded appearance and grow to 2' tall with an equal spread. Golden flower heads appear in spring and summer. Hardy to 20F. Hybrid cross between E. characias ssp. wulfenii x E. amygdaloides 'Rubra'.
If you really want to annoy the deer, plant this as it looks so tasty but is so inedible. Blue-green leaves with reddish suggestions on fairly compact stems are a nice foil to the big - up to a foot across - chartreuse flower heads. Poorer soils in a sunny dryish spot suits these nicely.
