'Jade Dragon' is an excellent hybrid spurge of E. amygdaloides 'Rubra' and E. characias ssp. wulfenii. Think of it as a 3 foot tall wulfenii with lush blue-green, evergreen foliage, deep red new growth, and bright chartreuse flower heads in the summer instead of early spring. There's nothing else quite like it in the spurges.

If you really want to annoy the deer, plant this as it looks so tasty but is so inedible. Blue-green leaves with reddish suggestions on fairly compact stems are a nice foil to the big - up to a foot across - chartreuse flower heads. Poorer soils in a sunny dryish spot suits these nicely.
