Zn 9. Displays small, solitary rosettes of narrow, dark green leaves adorned with chalky white, angular bands along with curly white fibers. An easy care, drought tolerant plant that is great in landscapes and containers or can adapt as a houseplant. Provide a well drained soil away from reflected heat. Once established, water infrequently during the hot season. Be careful when handling this plant! Agave flexiflora has extremely sharp leaf tips!
Another rare plant from southeastern Arizona and further south with small jewel-like rosettes of under 6" consisting deep olive-green leaves marked white with occasional filifers and eventually producing narrow spikes of red-tinged flowers. Occasionally offsetting -- rather than off-putting. For sun and well-drained soil. Accepts average moisture if the soil is well-drained. Frost hardy at 12 to 15 °F, mid USDA zone 8.
