Also known as Texas sophora, this is a very hardy, small, deciduous tree, to 15-20' tall and 8-12' wide, with dark, shiny leaves and, in spring, hanging clusters of rose and pink flowers, like beads in a necklace. As member of the pea family, the seeds are in long black pods, very decorative. Sun to part shade in any soil and little summer water once established. Frost hardy in USDA zone 7.
