A new color for an old favorite: the 30" gracefully arching burgundy stems of this beauty are hung with puffy bright-red, heart-shaped flowers over many weeks in the late spring shade garden. PSh-Sh/M PP22739

The latest addition to this small family, these true red bleeding hearts extend the color palette in what has previously been a pastel group. Plant with Astilbe Younique White or Silver Pink for continued color through the growing season. The astilbes come into their own as the bleeding hearts wind down and go dormant through the hot summer months.

This new cultivar of the classic cottage garden favourite has flowers that are so dark pink they border on true red! These heart-shaped flowers hang from arching stems over vigorous growth of deeply dark grey/green lobed foliage that is flushed with burgundy when young. Blooms for ages in the spring garden. May go dormant in summer if soils are dry.
Graceful bleeding heart, to 2-3 ft tall and 1/2 as wide with the bluish, fern-like leaves of the species and bright red flowers in spring. Moist soil is best though tolerates some dryness; goes dormant with too much drought. Sun with plentiful moisture to part shade -- though color is best with more light. Frost hardy in USDA zone 4.
