While large enough (to 4') to show off its handsome mauve flowers, this almost-native doesn?t need to be staked like its 6-7' parent and the butterflies will enjoy as much as you! S-PSh/M-W PP16122 Conrad Pyle
Easily grown in average to rich, medium moisture soils, compact 'Little Joe' blooms mid-summer to early fall. The large flower heads are mauve-pink, and on sunny days are just covered with butterflies. Handsome foliage and a strongly upright habit. Unbeatable for wild gardens, sunny pond edges, and mid-border.
This little known species of Joe-Pye weed is native to moist soils of eastern North America. This selection has four foot tall stems clothed in whorls of green leaves and topped in midsummer with large, dome-shaped heads holding masses of lavender flowers...a real bonanza for keeping butterflies at eye level. If you don't yet know the Joe-Pye weeds, here's an excellent place to start. Tolerant of light shade.
Short stature but a colorful butterfly magnet in late summer. Mauve-y pink flowers on strong stems; rugose (rough-textured) leaves deter deer.

A dwarf eupatorium that maxes out at only 3-4 feet, with the same tough, carefree disposition and masses of fuzzy pinkish mauve flowers in the last summer and early fall much beloved by butterflies. Not as dramatic as the regular giant sized versions, but more suited to a small garden. Zone 4
Butterfly candy for your garden! Upright stems on this 3-5' (tall and wide) clumping perennial are crowned with dome shaped flower heads of rose lavender in late summer and early fall. This tough selection thrives in any soil and loves moisture…even wet areas in clay, great pondside! Deer resistant, easy.
