Late season (July-August) blooming astilbe with vibrant pink flowers. This is a great perennial for late season borders.
This dwarf astilbe is an evergreen perennial ground cover type (not invasive) with dark green, often bronzed ferny foliage to 6” tall; last astilbe to bloom June – August with 18” plumes of lilac pink. Most soils, takes bog and wet areas, excells in moist soils but surprisingly drought tolt too! Deer and rabbit resistant; takes deep shade, will grow under walnut, great performer!
This low maintenance, herbaceous perennial displays mauve pink blooms from May - August. Growth Rate medium
It's a happy chance that this exquisite low growing Astilbe makes a dense, weed-proof ground cover with its glossy, deep green leaves. We plant it under the dappled light of large Hydrangeas, and by midsummer 'Pumila's rosy mauve flowers put on a colorful display.
'Visions' is a compact, free-flowering cultivar with a bronze-green mound of foliage to about nine inches tall topped with thick panicles of frosted raspberry flowers on 12-15 inch stems in late spring to early summer. Gorgeous with light pinks and whites and small enough for the front of a part sun to shady border.
An older cultivar but still one of the best dwarfs, forming a dense ground cover with short spikes of pink flowers tolerates summer drought and sun quite well. ZONE 4
From low-growing, fern-like, much divided leaves come plumes of pinkish-purple flower spikes, 8-10", late summer.
