Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Dicentra 'Burning Hearts' is a beautiful Bleeding Heart with a low mound of ferny blue-grey leaves topped by arching sprays of large, dark red, heart-shaped flowers edged in white. Dead head occasionally for repeat bloom. Plant in humus rich, moist, well-drained soil. Good in flowers beds, borders, containers and mass plantings. Remove spent foliage in spring before new growth begins.
This richly romantic cultivar has luscious valentine red blossoms fetchingly edged with white. The flowers arch above the delicate blue gray leaves from early spring to late summer. The Hearts Series offers clusters of large flowers in rich colours set off by lush, fern-like foliage. Compact, mounding plants stay neat and tidy. Blooms for months with a summer rest period. This little bleeding heart could be love at first sight, if you are attracted to red. Rose-red pantoloon shaped flowers are borne endlessly from spring through summer, as long as they receive even watering. Its fern like foliage forms cool silver blue 12" mounds, and would be fabulous paired with any number of blue Hosta. Grow in partial shade in well drained soil that stays adequately moist. Note: deer do not find Dicentra particularly appetizing, either.
What a great name! The flowers on this fairly smolder above the icy blue-green foliage and it is only the coolness of the leaves which prevents spontaneous combustion. Surprisingly sun tolerant and a very satisfying period of bloom from late spring well into summer. Non-running. PP20797.
