Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Trillium sessile has red elongated tulip-shaped blooms (with petals longer than T. recurvatum) with mottled green foliage. If you have a woodland garden you should have trilliums! Native to the Eastern US. Trillium are exquisite plants for the shade garden blooming in early to mid spring with their elegant flowers. They are spring ephemerals that may go dormant by summer. Keep in mind that they may go dormant early in the year they are first planted and could sulk a bit in their second year before settling in for beautiful displays for years to come.
Its common name belies the simple elegance of this rarely offered Missouri woodlander. Three evenly spaced broad leaves forge a handsome platform for 2 in. high maroon blooms, which are mottled in shades of green, purple and white. Defined by 3 erect petals, the unique stalkless flowers gracefully embellish a clump-forming base, whose thick underground rhizomes will slowly colonize if left undisturbed.
Not only does this somewhat smaller Trillium have pretty (tho smaller also) flowers in shades from yellow to rose, it also has handsome foliage mottled with deep brown. PSh/Med(not dry)/Good drainage/slightly Acid
Smaller than some Trilliums, this nevertheless possesses the same woodland charm has its larger kin. Dusky maroon sessile flowers perch jauntily in the nexus of 3 very well mottled leaves. This will continue to gain is stature and confidence with each passing year. Shade.
