Trillium albidum

Trillium albidum, the sweet trillium, has large sessile white flowers that are mildly fragrant. The leaves are green and can be mottled with brownish or dark green spots. This species is rarely available and makes an elegant addition to the shade garden, especially planted in drifts. T. albidum is a western US species that is a near-native to BC whose range gets as close as southwestern Washingon. Trillium are exquisite plants for the shade garden blooming in early to mid spring with their elegant flowers. They are spring ephemerals that may go dormant by summer. Keep in mind that they may go dormant early in the year they are first planted and could sulk a bit in their second year - and even not show themselves at all for a season! - before settling in for beautiful displays for years to come. One of the largest and most spectacular of all trilliums. This is one of the west coast native species with large sessile flowers (the flowers sit directly upon and in the center of the whorl of three leaves). The flowers of this species are cream-white to pure white, sometimes with a blush of pink at the base. Easily-grown in the woodland garden – we use it extensively at the RSBG. This is one of the hardiest of the west coast species and is successful even in the upper Midwest. A rarely offered choice wildflower, these are grown from seed collected here in the garden and have been grown on for several years. Most of these seedlings should bloom in two or three years (they take at least seven from seed). Our first offering.

Seldom available central Oregon to northern California sessile species that is just dynamite. Big white flowers with petals standing straight up from the lightly mottled leaves and producing to varying degrees, a sweet lemon scent. Seed-grown plants by us which have previously flowered so quite safe to say these are flowering size.

Hobnobbing in moist sites from San Francisco to southern Oregon, this native is robust and showy. Large subtly fragrant pearl white flowers are perched atop a dark green cushion of dappled, wavy edged spring foliage that rises on tall, often multiple, stems. In early summer, prominent purple berries keep our interest sparked.

These are our initial nursery-raised Trillium. We sell NO wild-collected plants. Sweet Trillium has large sessile white flowers that are mildly fragrant. 16 in. tall, the foliage is mottled in the spring as it unfurls and is topped by a large purple berry in early summer.
