Nursery contributed plant descriptions

One of our best and most treasured wildflowers, this 8-18" beauty of Eastern woodlands produces its sparkling white (fading to rose), tri- petaled (like the name) flowers during mid-late-spring PSh-Sh/M/Acid
The plants that we are offering for sale are 2-year-old bulblets from rhizome divisions of our flowering-size stock plants. They are in 2" pots and should be flowering in about two years. This is the easiest of all Trilliums to grow and propagate and one of the earliest to flower in the Spring.
Trillium grandiflorum is a large-flowered species with petals up to two inches long. Flowers open pure white gradually fading to pale pink. Forms colonies of thousands in deciduous woods of eastern North America where it is the provincial flower of Ontario. Trillium are exquisite plants for the shade garden blooming in early to mid spring with their elegant flowers. They are spring ephemerals that may go dormant by summer. Keep in mind that they may go dormant early in the year they are first planted and could sulk a bit in their second year before settling in for beautiful displays for years to come.
This simple but stunning wildflower that Allan Armitage calls "the epitome of woodland natives" is also a great garden plant. As far back as 1805 Philadelphia nurseryman Bernard Mahon recommended bringing it in from the woods to "grace and embellish the flower-garden," and in 1870 William Robinson featured a full-page image of it in his ground-breaking The Wild Garden. Best in light shade and moist, humus-rich soil, 12-16", zones 4a-7b(8bWC)
No woodland garden is complete without this beloved spring wildflower! Large Flower Trillium (Trillium grandiflorum) is easy to grow and returns year after year. It can spread slowly by seed if it finds your site to its liking. Limited availability, so please order early. Hardy to Zones 3 - 7.
It's a weed here but a glorious one, the huge white flowers fade to pink as they age; good pink forms and doubles are legendary, At least some of the pinks seem to breed true from seed, doubles are another matter but they are starting to tissue culture some of them. If you wish to search for doubles look at the end of the season, the doubles tend to bloom later and hold their petals longer than the singles, making them stand out at a considerable distance.
Blooms: spring, white/ trifoliate foliage Zone 4-9. 12"-24", Eastern NA, part shade-shade, moist, well drained
An easy trillium for the shade garden. Large, solitary, waxy white flower (turns pink with age) on an erect stalk with a whorl of 3 leaves. Flowers are 2-4 inches across. 8-18" tall. Blooms April - June. Likes rich woods in basic to neutral soils.

Substantial bright crystal white flowers on this harbinger of spring.
The east coast version of our native Trillium and basically indistinguishable except it blooms a couple weeks later. Few spring plants do more for the shade garden than a nice established clump of Trilliums.
