Nursery contributed plant descriptions

This attractive form of the always-nice Lace-cap Hydrangea has leaves edged in waves of cream and lighter green. PSh/M (not dry) acid: blue, alkaline: pink.
This 'Lace Cap" hydrangea is perfect as either a garden plant (up to Zone 6) or as a potted plant for a sunroom, patio or windowsill. The stunning blooms have white outer flowers and an inner cluster of small lavender-to-blue blossoms creating a delicate yet alluring tapestry all set among variegated leaves. Flower color is related to soil acidity. Blue flowers indicate a more acid soil while lavender-pink is a result of a more alkaline soil. If grown in containers, flowers appear spring to summer, while plants grown in the ground will flower mostly in the summer. We suggest pruning right after flowering so a period of re-growth can occur to allow next years flower buds to form before dieback occurs in the winter.
