'Gonzo' is a new dual purpose pea: you can shell the pods & eat the excellent peas, but it is best known for producing huge amounts of pea tendrils for stir-fries. You may have seen bags of 'Dou Miao' at Asian markets since it a traditional vegetable in Asian stir-fries, but pea tendrils are increasingly showing up on the plates at fancy restaurants. Pick the tendrils when they are very young (otherwise they get fibrous) & sautee them quickly in hot oil. Eat as soon as wilted. The plants grow 2-3' tall so there is no need for a tall trellis. Plant 6-12” apart & support with short sticks. If planted in a block & some of the tendrils are left to tangle, it may be self-supporting.
