Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Take a chance! One of the magical delights of growing plants from seed is being surprised by the diversity of forms that can arise when you let “the birds & the bees” (in this case, the phrase can be taken pretty literally) do their magic! Consider this plant as the “Mystery Flavor” of our Nicotiana collection. Best case scenario? An amped up N. alata with tri-colored flowers & fragrance. Worst case scenario? A smaller statured N. mutabilis with only white flowers. Each 1-2” flower starts out white & ages to pale pink, then rose – with all colors appearing at the same time. Grows between 5-8’ tall & 3’ wide. Perennial in temperate zones, cutting it back encourages its divine purpose. Rich soil for best show, it self-sows, too! Very popular with hummingbirds.
