Nursery contributed plant descriptions

One of the latest to bloom, with dark wine-red bells, pushing out of silvery bracts. The leaves are grass-green rather than blue-green like most Dierama.
This is a beautiful plant from South Africa. Some of you may be familiar with Dierama pulcherima or Angel’s Fishing Rod. This Dierama is a smaller version of that with nodding, dark wine-red flowers. These flowers offset nicely with the silvery, papery bracts they emerge from. The long arching flower stems occur in mid-summer. The evergreen strap-shaped foliage gets to be about 2’ high and wide. This Dierama likes rich soil and some water in the summer.
