Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Of all our selections, this one smells the sweetest. The elegant cream-colored double flowers are bowl-shaped and the green foliage remains glossy and crisp even under stress from heat and sun. Ours grows at the base of an apple tree, constantly tempting us to put aside work for awhile and linger in its scent.
Choice evergreen, arching shrub with abundant, intoxicatingly fragrant, double white flowers through much of the summer. Can be 15' tall with support or maintained as a medium shrub, removing oldest branches after flowering. Full sun to part shade. Drought tolerant once established but accepting of summer water. Tolerates heat with humidity. Frost hardy to mid USDA zone 8 and above.
This old-fashioned heirloom plant definitely ranks as one of my Top 10 Fragrant Plants I simply cannot live without. Its quarter-sized blooms emit the most addictively sweet & melodic perfume – once you get a whiff I am certain you will try to find this lovely shrub a home. It blooms in abundance in Spring & intermittently thru Summer & again in the Fall. It’s a delightful addition to bedside vases & posies. I have stolen many a bloom to tuck behind my ear, I could linger near its scent all day! The flowers are a cup-shaped creamy white & double, & the shrub itself sprouts long canes when established & can either be treated as a 5’ x 6’ shrub or trained against a trellis as an informal espalier. This shrub stays evergreen thru the Winter in mild climates & given time, can take up quite a large expanse, all the better for having more flowers to enjoy! Rich soil & good drainage is preferred.
