Cushion spurge grows into a one foot by one foot mound of green foliage that is topped in spring by some of the brightest electric green floral bracts of any euphorbia. E. polychroma is one of the hardier spurges bringing this genus within the reach of zone 5 gardeners. Photo courtesy of Walters Gardens.
Big mounds covered with yellow flowers in spring, it is very show and not too weedy. Unlike the variegated forms this is a good performer in the garden. ZONE 5

This sturdy little sub-shrub is a perfect cushion plant for the front of the flower bed or shrub bed. Its dense foliage and 12” x 24” rounded shape always looks neat and saves a lot of weeding. Besides that, “Cushion Spurge” provides continuous color from early Spring to late Fall. In the Spring, the rich green foliage is accentuated with a profusion of brilliant sulphur yellow flowers & bracts. When the flowers have faded they don't drop off, but turn green first and later, tawny red along with the foliage giving your Fall garden neato red color. Reseeds too!
