Four to six foot tall incredibly unique and nearly black stems are clad in lacy, ferny, soft- green foliage. In early summer the stems are topped with large flat-topped clusters (corymbs) of fluffy lavender flowers. This perennial show-off is an impressive addition for the back-of-the-border. PSh/M
Dark stems are nearly black on this clumping, easy-to-grow perennial, rising 4’ in summer, topped with fluffy lavender-pink flowers. Clumps of ferny foliage are bright green and lush. Sun (stems are darkest in full sun) to part shade, prefers rich, moist soil (but tolerates average soil). Nice at back of border but filmy enough to be used mid border.
Thalictrum 'Black Stockings' has tall, almost black stems, with green leaves, topped with a large flat topped flower cluster of fluffy, lavender flowers. Very showy for the back of the border. Stems are darkest when plants are grown in more sun.
A distinctive Meadow Rue which grows to 6' in height bearing puffs of lavender pink blossoms on almost black stems rising above clumps of lacy blue-green foliage. Meadow Rues tolerate moist soil quite well, are deer resistant and attract beneficial insects and lots of butterflies.
Looking a lot like Thalictrum aquilegiifolium to us of which this may simply be a selection - which is ok as we adore that species as did Monet - this has tall dark stems to 4'-6' tall with vibrant clouds of poofy pink flowers. (Any concise botanical Latin dictionary will have a description of "poofy")
Dense foliage w/silky dark black stems
This tall beauty has long, nearly black stems, contrasting green leaves and is topped by fluffy lavender pink flowers in large flat - topped corymbs. Very showy for the back of the border. Needs to be vernalized to bloom.
