Nursery contributed plant descriptions

A fairly large leafed perennial. In spring, the leaves have purple tints. Late spring, the 2” white flowers make a nice show. In fall, R. 'Rotlaub' turns lovely yellow.
?Red Leaf? describes the huge copper-red-bronze (you describe it!) 3-4' clump former and they hold that color better than most over summer before turning a spectacular deep red-bronze in fall. PSh-Sh/M-W (not dry)
Big, bold peltate (think 'umbrella') leaved perennial from Japan & Korea for a moist, shady spot. This selection has beautiful bronze new foliage. Same plumey white flowers in late summer, eventually growing to form a large colony. USDA zone 6, lower if mulched.
Rotlaub' (red leaf) has dark, chocolate-brown to coppery-red leaves (similar in shape to that of chestnuts) making this one of the best foliage plants for moist shade. Three foot tall stems terminate in a creamy-white flowery plume. It's slow to propagate but the drama it creates makes it all worthwhile. Try it in combination with variegated hosta, Farfugium, Ligularia, sedges, and Sarracenia. Minimum temperature: -30°F
A harbinger of daring drama, 'Rotlaub' is prized for its newly emerging red leaves, considered the most vividly colored and longest lasting among the species. Defined by long petioles, shiny pleated surfaces and jagged edges, the big pinnately compound green foliage entertains bronze, henna and burgundy hues, intensifying as fall approaches. Admirable in the woodlands and in cut arrangements, its sturdy branched blooming panicles feature rounded clustered buds and copious small starry porcelain-colored flowers, which impart cozy russet hues as they age and retain their beauty well into October.
It is widely recognized as one of the best forms that emerges with red leaves. The color is retained longer than other varieties, especially in full sun. Rodgersia are prone to spring frost so choosing a good site is important, and if they do get burnt back they will re-emerge. They are strong. Spreading groundcover to 24" in foliage, and 4' in blossom with white flowers.
Blooms: spring-summer, plumes of white flowers. Large palmate leaves with 5 lobbes. Chocolate new growth. Color stays when in sun. Zone 6-9. 32"-48", Japan, Korea, part sun, moist, humus rich
