Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Fun taller perennial. The leaves are very narrow dark green. The flowers are small, draping at each axil of the leaves. A great plant to add some height to the woodland garden.
Polygonatum verticillatum has narrow, whorled leaves that emerge purplish-brown but soon change to deep green and are held on erect rather robust stems up to four feet high. 'Rubrum' has lavender-pink, bell-shaped flowers rather than the normal white and red rather than green stems. Late season red berries are set off to perfection in autumn when the leaves turn to gold. Widespread from Europe across Asia to the Himalayas. Possibly hardy to zone 4.
This seldom seen Solomon's Seal from the Himalayas has unusual slender hooks for clinging at the tip of each leaf. It can attain heights of 6 feet, looking bambooesque! Whorled narrow leaves on dark purple stems are dark green with a dark purple cast. And small sprays of lavender-pink bell flowers erupt from the leaf axils followed by mauve-pink berries. It is content in part sun or bright shade. Shipped while dormant. Minimum temperature: -20°F
Lovely pink-flowered form of this very architectural species native to N India and China. The leaves are arranged in wagon wheel spoke-like tiers up the stems with the pink bell flowers snuggled into the leaf axils followed by reddish fruit. Newly potted divisions of this collector's gem.
