This beautiful columnar form of Ironwood grows 20-25' high and only 10-15' wide; spring brings glossy-green leaves tinted with reddish-purple and it is stunning in fall with its gorgeous yellow-orange-red-purple color, beautiful even in winter with its eye-catching peeling bark; perfect for smaller gardens, side yards or entryways. This narrow version of Parrotia persica grows 25-feet high and 10 to 15 feet wide. Attractive peeling bark. Gorgeous yellow-orange-red-purple fall color. A striking garden sentinel.
Lovely form on the ironwood tree that has an upright, columnar habit. This slow-grower has glossy green foliage that emerges with a burgundy colored edging. This changes to solid green throughout the growing season, followed by an array of colors from yellow to purple and red in the fall. Spidery looking red flowers bloom on bare branches in late winter and last into the spring. Even before the unique blooms appear, the patchwork of gray and tan bark on mature specimens makes this a desirable tree. Urban and drought tolerant. Growth Rate slow
Vanessa is a narrow columnar form of the Persian Ironwood and expands the usefulness of this fantastic species. Vanessa grows about a foot per year with mostly ascending branches to 25' tall by 10-15' wide in maturity. Excellent fall leaf colors and peeling bark on older trees are hallmarks of Parrotia.
