?A spectacular sight when trained over an old tree...? (Noel Prockter), the lime-gold leaves of this less vigorous (to 8-12') vine are also incredible contrasted with deep-green or Purple-leaved plants. S-PSh/M
Beautiful ornamental hop with fast growing golden foliage. Flower cones are borne in the fall although not as prolific as the brewing hops. Grow on a sturdy arbor or pergola for a fantastic affect. Growth Rate fast
Armed with a sturdy structure, golden hops captivates with its glowing chartreuse maple-shaped leaves and pendant aromatic strobiles that embellish and add animation to this exuberant twining vine. Offers quick cover on pergolas, stumps and more. Provide organic, moist yet well-drained soils. Poisonous.
This is a choice herbaceous twining vine with large tri-lobed leaves that grows back each spring from the ground to heights of as much as 25 feet in a season. Easily cut back and can be sharply disciplined providing a wonderful golden backdrop to many climbing friends. In happy locations golden hops can spread by suckers so keep an eye out for these. They are relatively easy to pull out and control.
We don't know how suitable the hops are for brewing, but this vigorous, herbaceous perennial vine lends a graceful, twining elegance to any tree stump, column, wall or fence. Opposite and textured, the widely spaced, Maple-like leaves open a striking, almost translucent chartreuse, which changes through the season to a lime-green. Numerous tiny white flowers are followed by fanciful light green hops in autumn. The stems die down to the ground come winter, but greet each spring with an increasing abundance of new shoots that can grow up to 20' in a season. Medium Band.

Twining vine with dazzling chartreuse foliage. Native to the US and W. Asia. Strongly rhizomatous, twining perennial with deeply lobed leaves. Takes sun or part shade but leaves are more golden in sun. Quickly fills a trellis or Pergola. Perennial Plant of the Month at Perry's Perennials Page. We do not know the sex of our plant unfortunately but it's a Host Plant for the Eastern Comma and Red Admiral Butterfly and they don't care if our plant is a girl or a boy -- they see it as 'Baby Food'! *Technically this is not a vine but a bine (a flexible climbing plant that uses stiff downward-facing hairs for stability and climbing).

Golden Hops is a climbing vine with bright golden foliage for sun or part shade. Plants are dioecious meaning, there are male and female plants. Flowers are produced on older female plants even if the male pollinator is unavailable. Hops Vine can grow 20-30' once established.
Vigorous herbaceous vine with brilliant golden foliage which dies to the ground each fall but comes screaming back each spring to quickly make an imposing shout of color. Beautifully grown in the garden of Port Townsend's own Brian McLaughlin. Very tough.
Yes, this is the plant that produces hops for beer making. But it is also a lovely plant for ornamental value. New leaves are bright chartreuse maturing to medium green. Prolific tiny white flowers appear in the summer, light green hops appear by September. A strong grower reaching to 20' needs to be planted against strong support. Prefers a warm, sheltered location, in fertile well drained humus rich soil. Needs regular watering when rapid growth begins. Cut back to ground when it becomes dormant.

Bright yellow leaves on this vigorous vine that can reach 20 ft in a season. White flowers in mid-summer to early autumn followed by light green hops in autumn. Stems die to the gound in winter and can be trimmed off completely. Part shade is best to avoid bleaching the leaves. Frost hardy to USDA zone 5.
