Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Flowers on this great plant are dark purple with a reddish-purple blotch. A very hardy, strong plant which was selected by Dr. Gus Melquist of Connecticut from a cross made by Wojnar many years ago. Compact plant with widely spreading habit, densely covered in slightly rolled, emerald green leaves. (unknown, probably contains catawbiense and/or ponticum)

The "J" is silent, but this dark purple speaks for itself. Nearly our entire first crop of #1-size plants set one to three buds each. The late-midseason flowers, in dome-shaped trusses of 15"-20", are a vivid reddish-purple with a dark purple flare. Compact habit. 3' x 3'.
