Small evergreen shrub with beautiful new scarlet foliage bursting out of the deep green leaves in the spring. Fall color is reddish bronze. Drooping white bloom clusters accompany the foliage in the spring. Great choice for the woodland or shade garden. Growth Rate medium
A wonderful form of our East Coast Native. Dark shiny green mature foliage with wide-spread serrations. Scarletta is notable for its deep red new growth and bronzy-plum-purple winter hue. With sufficient sun, it's deep red burgundy in winter. Leucothoe's are suckering shrubs and great for 'loosening' up tighter shrubs like hollies -- gives a slightly less formal look to the evergreen border. Typical fragrant white flowers.
