Agapanthus praecox ssp. orientalis 'Black Pantha' is a broadleaf evergreen perennial bulb / corm / tuber with green foliage. In summer blue and purple flowers emerge. Features grassy texture. Gorgeous deep, dark violet-blue flowers emerge from buds so dark that they appear to be black, the dark blooms are held up on 12-18" stems and contrast incredibly with the grey-green evergreen strap-leaved clumps; a standout in late spring into summer, the sterile blossoms make marvelous cut flowers lasting up to two weeks in a vase. Agapanthus 'Black Pantha' has violet blue flower on 18" stems. The foliage is narrower than A.'Storm Cloud'. Flowers are much darker than A. Storm Cloud.
This cultivar offers some of the blackest flowers ever seen in an agapanthus held on dark stems to about two feet in mid to late summer. Should be evergreen to semi-evergreen.
An evergreen perennial that forms clumps of 18" long by 1.5 inch wide arching gray-green leaves. Flowers in summer on 3 foot tall stems. Flowers are a very dark violet-blue. (Synonym 'Black Panther').
