Nursery contributed plant descriptions

The stiff green leaves of this beautiful Yucca are edged in creamy white and are after tinged with reds and purples. The Golden Variegated Yucca has a pleasing architectural form and produces spikes of creamy white, up to 3" wide, edible, and nectar rich flowers once mature that may followed by brown seed pods that are devoured by song birds. This variegated form is rarely offered but is as easy to grow as the much more common green Spanish Bayonet. A native of the South Central and South Eastern US. Enjoy it as a container plant when young or in the garden and landscape. Provide this variegated Yucca with a well drained soil and a full to mostly sunny position for the best foliage color. Plant it away from walkways as the sharp spines are painful.
A long coveted form of this sharp-pointed, spectacular tree yucca, native of the deep Southeast, the variegated forms have long been pass-around only plants because of their difficulty in reproduction. Now there's enough for everyone! 3 ft wide, stacked rosettes on branched trunks -- to 5-8 ft and more -- the creamy white variegations, tinting rosy pink in cold weather, make the plant's outline visible from quite a distance. Full sun to dappled shade providing leaves do not gather in the rosettes and cause rot. Well-drained soil. Supplemental water in dry summer places. Frost hardy in USDA zone 7.
