Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Large 3" wide, deep blue, cornflower-like daisies are produced on sturdy stalks starting in late spring and lasting through much of summer on well established clumps. Peachies Pick is a dense clump forming and exceptionally long flowering selection of the Stokesia Daisy. Its dense compact habit make this the perfect Stokes Aster for gardens and landscapes. Did we mention that it doesn't flop like older cultivars? This southern selection originated from the gardens of and was named for Peachie Saxon of Mississippi. It originated to us from one of the people who helped to make it known to gardeners and landscapers everywhere, noted horticulturist and author Gail Barton of Meridian, Mississippi. A durable and reliable US native perennial, Stoke's Aster comes highly recommended and its easy to see why with its moderate drought resistance, few pest or disease problems, deer and rabbit resistance and the fact that it revels in the heat and sun of our southern summers. Plants readily multiply into dense clumps. Super easy and tough. Stoke's Asters or Stokesia Daisies are durable drought, deer, and rabbit resistant, clump-forming native perennials. Their reliability and durability make them highly recommended garden perennials. In the northern most portions of their range, zones 5 and 6, they should be provided with a deep winter mulch. Their only downfall is wet soggy winter soils which could cause rot. Otherwise these are great garden performers that will bring their owners many years of enjoyment with almost no maintenance required. Attracts butterflies and a host of other pollinators. May reseed under good conditions though it may be unlikely to where mulched. Seedlings may have different characteristics than the parent plants.
Don't let the name confuse you. This Stoke's Aster is not peach colored, but named after someone named Peachie! It is extremely floriferous and compact, producing an endless supply of lavender blue multi petaled Aster like flowers all summer. 12-15" tall.
A fantastic passalong plant from a chance seedling in Peachie Saxon's garden. Outperforms all other Stokesia on the market, with scads of lavender blue flowers atop compact, branching, sturdy plants. Blooms in summer and butterflies just won't leave it alone!
Dozens of large shingled blue flowers late June-into-July atop compact 1-2' clumps is what drew Peachie to this stunning selection in her Mississippi garden... a great pick! Sun/Med
