Nursery contributed plant descriptions

An orchid native to the eastern US, this herbaceous perennial sports a low rosette of strappy leaves from which arises upright stems 10-20” tall decorated with small VERY FRAGRANT hooded white flowers from late summer to frost! Appreciates moist to wet acidic soil and part shade, but also tolerates some degree of dryish shade to wet sunny sites. Slowly expands (doubles annually) by rhizomes, can reseed on moist soil. Great cut flower, situate where you can enjoy the sweet vanilla scent!
Small vanilla scented white orchid flowers spiral gracefully up 30-50cm stems, its one of the showiest species and is fairly easy in a damp spot; it has proven to be quite amenable to pot culture for us.
