Phlomis 'Edward Bowles' is a hybrid of the subshrubby P. fruticosa and the herbaceous P. russeliana. It is a bold, structural subshrub with lush, textured, triangular leaves that are bright green above and silvery beneath. The spires of yellow, two-lipped flowers are held in clusters at regular intervals along the stems in summer. Tolerant of heat and drought but not of winter wet. Could be herbaceous in colder climates.
