LOVE all the Mondo Grasses…but this one is my favorite! Neat, low clumps of evergreen ribbons edged and striped in cream slowly expanding to create a good looking, small scale ground cover – 4-6” tall and 10” wide. White to lavender flowers on older plants sometimes develops sapphire berries. Not fussy about soil and prefers a moist site but when established tolerates a surprising amount of drought; best in morning sun to light to moderate shade. Slow growing…for all good things we must wait!
Ophiopogon japonicus ‘Pam Harper’ is an evergreen, grass-like plant that forms dense clumps of green and gold variegated foliage. Short spikes of lavender flowers are followed by dark berries in the fall. Ornamental Grasses are low maintenance and grow well in most soil types. They look beautiful, adding color, height, and movement to your garden. Mondo Grass is an excellent companion plant with contrasting foliage.
Named after noted plantswoman Pam Harper, this choice selection of Mondo Grass would need a very sheltered spot in zone 6, plus good drainage, but in zone 7 and warmer climates it's a keeper. Creamy yellow variegated narrow leaves form tidy clumps, making a fun textural addition for the front of the mixed border. We like to use it in year round containers.
The finely textured dark-green leaves of this grass-like groundcover or border edger are brightly edged with gold. Unlike grass, however, this 6-9" t x 10" with perennial offers lavender flowers in summer. PSh-Sh/Med
