Lycoris traubii is a broadleaf deciduous perennial bulb / corm / tuber with green foliage. In fall orange flowers emerge. Features grassy texture. Grows well with sun - mostly sun and regular water. Does well in average and well-drained soil. A good option if you're seeking something verticillium wilt resistant.
Although sold as Lycoris Aurea, these bulbs from Japan are most likely Lycoris Traubii. This means they are more cold hardy than the standard Lycoris Aurea bulbs from India. Most likely they will be hardy down to zone 7.
These enchanting flowers are native to Asia. They are great outdoor bulbs for the south, or can be potted plants elsewhere. They bloom in late summer to fall. Usually these are sold in the fall after they have been sitting on the shelf for several months. This limits their survival and blooming ability. I still can't guarantee they will bloom this fall (since they don't like transplanting) but they could bloom if planted soon.
Large 12 cm bulbs.
These bulbs are the new harvest from Japan and will begin shipping in August, 2011.
