This Japanese Shrub Mint has really interesting variegation when you get up close. 'Silver Angel' draws attention with its serrated silvery green leaves highlighted with white, accented with an irregular dark green margin. Spires of small soft yellow flowers appear in early autumn. DEER RESISTANT!
This silver green-leaved form of this Japanese woodland perennial lights up the woodland garden all season long and is then topped with spikes of soft yellow flowers in fall. Said to be one of the prettiest foliage plants for brightening the shade garden. Light shade or morning sun.
This Japanese woodland mint is finer textured than 'Golden Angel'. The leaves are more serrate and are green with a silvery center. Another beautiful addition to the shade garden.
SILVER ANGEL WOODLAND MINT - JAPANESE SHRUB MINT - A hardy shrubby perennial in zones 4-8, prefers sun to light shade. Grows 3' tall and wide in clumps. Very unusual foliage, green irregularly serrated oblong leaves changing to silver with a thin irregular green border. Very attractive terminal spikes of yellow bottle brush like blooms in October and November. rare, unusual.
Shared with us by plantsman Ted Stephens this small shrubby perennial, to only about 18-20" inches tall, adorns itself with 4" leaves of silver simply edged in deep green. The strange terminal flowers are a pale lilac but appear almost cone-like. A striking addition to the woodland garden. We suggest underplanting with darker, evergreen ground covers for contrast. Frost hardy in USDA zone 6.
