Sweet! An impish selection of the species, a mere 18" clump with grassy, narrow leaves that are semi-evergreen in warmer climates…2' tall 'pokers' arise mid summer to fall adorned with brick red buds opening to smoldering red orange flowers - hummer candy
Deep burnt orange-red Sept-Oct
SALE! Reg. 9.75. Despite their common name, most red hot pokers are not red. This makes 'Nancy's Red' one of the reddest of them all, without the bottom of the flowers turning yellow. Foliage is rather short and grass-like. Easy to grow in most well drain
Need something spicy for the border? Nancy is the lady for you! She's petite at 2' high, but that doesn't mean she doesn't make a statement. Big, bold deep cherry-coral tubular blooms measuring 10" long put on a show mid-Summer through early Fall. Hummingbirds go nuts for them! An 18" wide tuft of blue green, grassy, semi-evergreen foliage makes 'Nancy' perfect for small spaces. Kniphofias are remarkably tough & adaptable - tolerant of clay, heat, drought, deer, coastal conditions... just avoid waterlogged soils, occasionally bait for snails, clean out the foliage every once in a great while & the plants will do the rest! Occasional Summer water & a top-dressing of compost annually is recommended for best appearance.

Mid-summer coral-red tubular blooms are similar to Aloe’s torch sprays, attractive to hummingbirds. Hardy to 5 °F.
A new red hot poker that truly has red flowers with only a hint of yellow on the tips and in the throats. Foliage is narrow and grassy green in clumps to 18-24” tall and wide. The flower stalks emerge in early to mid-summer, standing above the leaves. A striking perennial, evergreen in milder parts of its range. Best in sun or, in hottest places, light shade. Provide rich, humusy, well-drained soil and summer water for best performance. Mulch for winter protection. Leaves can be tied up to prevent winter rains rotting the crown. Frost hardy to -20 °F, USDA zone 6.
A nice compact richly colored Red Hot Poke and often reblooms which is a real plus in the realm of Kniphofias. These are a good alternative to the ubiquitous two-toned Pokers that abound everywhere. These also become fiercely contested Hummingbird turf which is fun to watch.
