Like tiny blue mountain-lakes, the intensely cupped and puckered leaves of this new-comer with its white mid-summer flowers make it an attractive and distinctive specimen; (Walden West) PSh-Sh/M
Hosta ‘Abiqua Drinking Gourd’ has deeply cupped and twisted, nearly round, blue-green leaves that are waxy and deeply corrugated. White, hummingbird-attracting flowers appear just above the foliage. Plantain Lilies grow best in moist, well-drained, highly organic soils. A good partner for ferns. Although the flowers are attractive, Hostas are usually grown for their ornamental foliage.
Abiqua Drinking Gourd' is one of my favourite hostas and one of the most distinctive blue foliaged cultivars. Dark blue-green seersuckered leaves have heavy substance, great slug resistance and a unique cupped form with the leaf edges curved upwards so that each leaf cups upwards as if to collect the rain. White flowers.
Impressive clump of rich dark blue-green leaves with powdered grey undersides cupped & puckered; Can hold rain in leaves; Nice effect. White flowers with tint of lavender mid summer. Plant in afternoon shade to full shade. Large hosta.
Dark blue with glaucous bloom. Round, cupped, rugose. White tubular flowers mid July to mid August.
