Zn 4. Apricot leaves turning red in the fall.
New leaves come out bright gold then mature to a peachy orange yellow color. The soft colors of ‘Caramel’ add warmth to shady areas. Size
Rounded orange/yellow evergreen foliage. Cream blooms attract hummingbirds. Great for woodland gardens, borders or rock gardens. Deer resistant. Growth Rate medium
While certainly not a new variety, 'Caramel' stands as one of the best amber colored varieties for a number of reasons. With H. villosa as one of its parents, 'Caramel' is tolerant to heat, humidity, and somewhat heavier soil. It has a vigorous growth rate and is tolerant of full sun if it has adequate moisture. Like all amber-toned coral bells, 'Caramel' needs direct sun for best color. I try to give it 4-6 hours of morning sun. Combine it with silver, blue, and chartreuse foliage for a great combo.
Caramel is an exciting new Heuchera introduction. The lush foliage is maple-like. 18" tall airy flower spikes are sterile and bloom profusely and repeatedly from summer to fall. Very hardy and disease resistant, Heuchera make ideal companions to other shade lovers like hostas and ferns.

Native to the southeast United States, this heat tolerant Heuchera is more reliable in hot, wet summers. The foliage of this new cultivar is what is really exciting. The light caramel colored leaves are like no other we've seen and the color blends with just about every kind of plant. Wands of airy pinky white flowers appear in late summer. Foliage height is 15", 24-30" tall in flower
