Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Native to many northern states from Massachusetts to the Dakotas down to Missouri. Despite the flowers never opening, the large, deep blue buds still make a colorful display. Plus, it's pure fun watching bumblebees (the body builder type) prying open the buds to get to the scrumptious inside. Easily grown in an average garden soil and even tolerates wet soils. Full sun to dappled shade in cooler climates; more shade in hotter ones.
