Very rare and very wonderful! The handsome, polished, palmate leaves are quite large, (up to 16") and beautifully variegated with a spiders-web of elegant creamy- white. This unique and special 8' shrub/small tree has a wonderfully tropical feel to it. The perfect plant for brightening shady corners, can tolerate fairly dry shade too. For those of you in zones below 7 this shrub makes a divine houseplant! PSh-Sh/M
It almost killed me to take cuttings off my beautiful plant…but now we have a few to share! The large tropical looking 12-16” leaves on this baby are heavily speckled with glowing silver webbing, which lights up any dark corner in the garden. Evergreen plants form a clump of upright woody stems that can reach 8’ or more. Seems deer proof! Most soils, prefers moisture but takes some serious drought in shaded locations. Also a lovely houseplant for you arctic dwellers! Plants may take a few years to really show their color!
Fatsia 'Spider's Web' is a beautiful Aralia relative that grows as a shrub or small tree with variably variegated leaves which change during the seasons. The variegation appears as speckles and pixilations and is strongest on young foliage but also becomes better developed on that young foliage as the plant gets older. Mature specimens are bold and intriguing. The flowers are white, are held in spheres, and appear in late fall as a late season honeybee bonanza. Tolerant of dry shade and dark corners.
A wonderful variegated form of the original Japanese aralia with typically palmate leaves that emerge spreckled overall in cream and white and mature to light green with white variegations. To 5' tall, this Japanese selection does well in shade or with morning sun, enjoying consistent summer water for best performance. Frost hardy in upper USDA zone 7 and a fine houseplant in colder climates.
Great for deep shade. All Fatsias like deep shade, but they don't get noticed in that shade like this white variegated one does.

A fantasy of brilliant white splashing and dotting. A beautiful Aralia given to Dan by variegated plant guru (sensei #1), Dr. Yokoi in Japan. This variable form is very rare - (even over there!) Wild variegation changes with the seasons and as the plant ages. Named by Dan's other sensei, Mr. Hirose of Iwakuni, Japan.
