Epimedium ‘Domino’ features tight clumps of showy, long, spiny green leaves heavily flecked with amber. This variety is heavy blooming, with 2′ tall, hairy, burgundy, arching spikes of large white-spurred flowers, each highlighted by a maroon flower tip. Easy to grow!
Flowers are white and purple are held above beautiful mottled foliage. This evergreen perennial will make a beautiful plant for the woodland garden.
Epimedium 'Domino' is a large plant growing to 2 feet tall by 3 feet wide with long, spiny leaves producing hundreds of airy, long-spurred, white flowers with pink centres on arching, burgundy stems in April and May. The leaves are mottled with gold or burgundy when young. Epimedium are among the easiest perennials to grow. They can be used as effective accents or groundcovers in medium to heavy shade and once established are highly drought tolerant. They are seldom bothered by deer, rodents or other monsters.
This 2004 introduction from Garden Vision Nursery is one of our favorites. Myriads of dainty bishop's cap flowers in lovey bicolor shades of warm rosy pink and white dance on dark wiry stems in late April and early May. A taller Epimedium with flower spires to 2' tall. Deer resistant, drought tolerant and long lived!
An impressive hybrid done by Darrell Probst. Bears countless large white flowers with wine-pink "cups" on maroon stems above mottled leaves. To me it looks much like a white version of 'Pink Champagne' and I have a strong feeling they are related and possibly from the same breeding program. "Just" clumping but growing into 2-3' clumps! Evergreen.
Blooms: spring, long spurs, creamy white with a wine-purple center, evergreen foliage with mottled new growth. Fantastic 2004 Darrel Probst hybrid Zone 5-8, 16"-24", Hybrid, part shade, moist, humus rich
Elegantly elongated dark leaflets, each shaped like a quick stroke of a brush are sponge painted in various shades of maroon as they expand through Spring. Topped by panicles of beautiful creamy white & grape colored flowers. 18" tall. Evergreen.
