A fine selection with orange blossoms emerging from buds with a purple tinge from late spring till frost! Upright stems 3-5’ in Zone 7 and colder with winter dieback (warmer zones 6’ high and wide deciduous shrub). Sun to half day sun, most soils, likes heat, water when dry. Evening fragrant.
This intriguing night-scented jessamine is a hybrid of two species from the West Indies, C. diurnum and C. nocturnum. The small tubular flowers are a glowing mid orange and held in clusters. They are attractive by day and fragrant by night. Popular with butterflies and hummingbirds. In cold winters 'Orange Peel' may die back to the ground but will grow back and reach six feet in a single season. Plant in a warm, sunny location. Deer resistant.
A cross between Cestrum diurnum and Cestrum nocturum. Clusters of tubular orange flowers from June till frost producing the sweet scent of orange blossoms in the evening. A deciduous shrub in the south, a houseplant in the northern areas. Zones 7-11..Sun..Attracts hummingbirds.
Terminal clusters of yellow-orange flowers are fragrant in the evening. Fast growing, this woody perennial might reach up to 6' tall each season. Though woody, cut it to the ground (if it doesn't die to the ground anyway) in late winter and watch it spring back in spring. Summer to fall blooming!
